Changes are being made to the machinery of government under the new Prime Minister

Local economic growth and devolution strategy have transferred from the MHCLG to the new Number 10 North.  At the same time, several functions, including the Office for Equality and Opportunity, have moved from the Cabinet Office to the MHCLG.  A new Office for the Prime Minister and Cabinet (OPMC) will be created, covering Number 10, Number 10 North and the Cabinet Office.  An AI taskforce will also be established within the OPMC.   On 21^st July, Baroness Smith told the House of Lords that Number 10 North would be the “engine room of devolution” and the “dominant driver of the UK’s economy”.
