The Resolution Foundation's Housing Outlook for Quarter 3 of 2026 noted that government investment would need to increase significantly if Andy Burnham's promised "biggest council house building programme since the post-war period" is to be realised. It also pointed out that delivering a material increase in the number of affordable homes would take years and therefore called for housing support for lower-income private renters to be re-pegged to actual rents. |
