The government plans changes to the education system with the aim of improving the status of technical jobs

On 28th July, Andy Burnham announced that this would enable 14-year-olds to get early access to technical education, skills training, work experience and connections with employers.  Vowing that Britain would now "value the hard hat as much as the graduation cap", the Prime Minister said that schools, colleges, mayors, local leaders and employers would work together to create clear routes into good, skilled jobs in their area.  Ofsted inspections would also be changed to recognise the quality of technical education and the support aimed at preparing young people for work.
