There was a modest increasing in the number of social homes in Wales in 2025/26

The number of social housing units, including bedsits and bed spaces rose by 1.0% from 244,620 in March 2025 to 247,389 in March 2026.  According to figures published by the Welsh Government on 30th July, 63% of these homes were owned by housing associations, which charged an average weekly rent of £125.20.  While social housing accounts for 18% of the housing stock across Wales as a whole, the proportion varies significantly between local authorities, ranging from 11% in Ceredigion to 26% in both Blaenau Gwent and Torfaen.
