The reprofiling of the SAHP is impacting the speed at which RPs can deliver new affordable homes

In a report to investors covering the year to 31st March 2026, Platform Housing Group highlighted that its bid to the 2026/36 Social and Affordable Homes Programme had been revised on the request of Homes England.  The slower release of grant funding will reduce the organisation's delivery over the coming years.  The report also noted that unfavourable economic conditions, including higher interest rates and the cost-of-living squeeze, were beginning to affect demand for shared ownership homes.  However, this may be mitigated by buyers switching from outright sale to shared ownership due to the reduction in affordability of the market product.
