Florence Eshalomi has left her role as Chair of the HCLG Select Committee to become a minister in the MHCLG

She was subsequently allocated the key briefs of homelessness and rough sleeping.  Her responsibilities also include supported housing and domestic abuse;  communities; resettlement; social cohesion; faith; and elections policy.  In other changes, Baroness Blake of Leeds, the former leader of Leeds City Council, became minister for building safety, fire and resilience, replacing Samantha Dixon.

Ms Eshalomi was appointed as a Minister of State on 21st July.  Her specific responsibilities have not yet been defined.  Nominations for the new Chair of the select committee will open once MPs return to parliament in September at the end of the summer recess.
