Affordable housing delivery in London is rising from a low base

In the quarter to June, 1,070 affordable homes were started under GLA programmes, up from 347 in the same quarter in 2025.  These included 802 homes for social rent, 114 for affordable rent, 79 for intermediate rent and 18 for shared ownership.  During the same period, 1,545 affordable homes were completed, an increase of 76% on the previous year.  The government has agreed a six-month extension to the 2021/26 programme, giving the GLA the opportunity to get closer to its target of 19,120 starts under this programme.
