| 3 Sep 2026 | Total expenditure on development by English housing associations fell from £13.6billion in the year to June 2025 to £13.1billion in the year to June 2026. However, it is forecast to increase to £16.0billion in 2026/27. According to the RSH’s latest quarterly survey, development expenditure in the quarter to June was £3.1billion, 24% below the forecast. The main causes cited were “delays in securing contractors, slower handover of units, and in some instances reprofiling development programs”, while "complex contract negotiations, planning applications and legal works have also impacted construction activity". |
