Ofsted is to take a tougher approach on unregistered children’s housing providers

This aims to stop unsafe and unlawful placements, while ensuring that sufficient suitable accommodation is available for children in care and care leavers.   According to research by the agency, the shortage of suitable accommodation is by factors including workforce capacity, the affordability of housing, and a lack of foster carers, as well as the volume of provision.
