The number of gateway 2 applications for new high-risk buildings to the BSR increased in August

This was attributed to developers seeking to get their applications in ahead of the introduction of the Building Safety Levy on 1st October.  The BSR said that it mitigation plan in place and would continue to monitor the rate of new applications.  It also reported that its inspection programme uncovered a small number of cases where building work had “not conformed with agreed designs” and required some remedial work.  Over the year since the Innovation Unit was set up by the BSR, the median approval time has come down from 43 weeks to 22 weeks, while the approval rate has improved from 39% to 92%.
