The number of homes registered with Homes England's Section 106 clearing service has risen significantly in the past year

5,745 affordable homes were listed on the platform on 3rd August, compared with only 1,500 homes in July 2025.  This information came to light following a Freedom of Information request by Inside Housing, which also revealed that 663 organisations had registered to use the service: 278 housing associations, 156 local authorities and 229 house builders.  Although Homes England had said earlier in the year that the service was "due to close soon", a spokesperson told Inside Housing in September: "Developers are still encouraged to upload information on sites where there are uncontracted or unsold Section 106 affordable homes to enable local authorities and registered providers to view them.”
