Between July and at least September, some members of staff went on strike, claiming that the housing association was planning to use a fire and rehire process to impose an adverse change in their pension arrangements, ahead of change in employment legislation that will make it much harder to use this approach.  East End Homes told Inside Housing that the primary driver for the proposed changes was fairness and parity among employees, with reducing the organisation's long-term pension risk and simplifying pension arrangement as secondary considerations.
