Housing and health “should be in a single integrated ministry”

Andy Burnham has a “golden opportunity” to change the perception of housing in this country “from bricks and mortar to crucial health infrastructure that has an unrivalled impact on the nation’s well-being”.  These were the views of Clare Miller, Chief Executive of Clarion Housing Group, expressed in a comment piece (£) for Inside Housing.  She pointed out that, when the NHS was established in 1948, the government “recognised that housing and health were two issues each inseparable from the other and tackled them accordingly under one ministry”.
