The government is proposing positive changes to the VAT regime on land for social housing development

On 23rd June, it launched a consultation on making the sale of land intended for the construction of social housing to be zero-rated.  This would remove the current, cumbersome, golden brick requirements, improving the viability of land-led schemes for both RPs and landowners.  Writing in Social Housing, Adam Cutler of Crowe encouraged associations to respond positively to the consultation, which closes on 18th August.
