1 Jul 2026	*There is a risk that the planned new towns could have unsuitable housing, poor transport connections, and low-quality green spaces.* In a report published on 1^st July, the London Assembly Planning & Regeneration Committee called for new towns in the capital to have the following attributes: Funding from a specific pot that does not draw on grants that have already been allocated to different government departments Social housing to be prioritised in terms of tenure Sufficient family-sized and accessible homes to be provided Public transport to be in place as soon as the first residents move in High-quality green infrastructure to be provided to support climate resilience and biodiversity Current and future residents to be involved in a meaningful way in the design process.
