The Welsh Government’s affordable housing target is now more narrowly defined

Its new target of 20,000 additional social homes by 2030 will be limited to homes for social rent and intermediate rent where affordability is secured in perpetuity.  According to a Written Statement from Siân Gwenllian, Cabinet Minister for Local Government, Housing and Planning, on 13^th July, the target will focus on delivering genuinely affordable homes that remain accessible to communities over the long term.  It will therefore not include shared ownership and leased homes that had been included in the previous government’s target.
