Buildings with external walkways or balconies are the subject of regular inspections to ensure that these remain structurally sound and that there is no material risk of collapse of any part of the structure, including the railings.   Any balconies of the same or similar design to those involved in the incident in Barking in November 2023 are prioritised within this programme.  Any work required to ensure the safety of walkways, balconies or railings is treated as urgent.
